†»Overall | Seraphina barely passes the marker for five feet. She is rather small for her age, most likely due to genetics. However, she weighs in at about 110 pounds. Whereas, most girls her size would be a bit closer to 120. The best explanation for this unexpected weight is her prosthetic limbs. The only non-prosthetic she has is her left arm, which is still flesh and bone. Her legs are prosthetics (reference) normally used by returning war veterans. However, her uncle was able to afford them easily in addition to the false skin to cover them to make them appear real. The "port" straps to the remainder of her legs with leather, at the top of the actual "hold" which comes about one quarter of the way up her leg. Based on how she moves her hip, she is able to bend the knee, and the ankle bends based on how it is placed on the ground. About half the time, though, she will experience more pain than normal to walk, and will often aid herself with a forearm crutch (reference). Her right arm is missing at close to the base of the shoulder. Her arm looks something along these lines. (Reference). The upper portion of it with the ties make a small 'cup' so to speak to cover what's left of her arm, and the brace/arm is held to her body by a leather strap that fastens across the top of her sternum. She is able to bend the elbow very slightly if she twists her back one way or the other, using the leather 'string' that hooks to the lower portion of the arm and travels through the rest of it to attach to the leather strap.

The false skin matches her skin tone, a rather fair hue. Her eyes are blue and her hair, which comes to her shoulders, is black. She wears it down most of the time, which goes against normalcy for women and girls of the modern day, who wear their hair in tight buns, shorter, and in plaits. To attend college, she wears a black dress which has a V-neck, and sleeves that come to her mid-forearm. A red ribbon sits at the base of the V, and two thin, red leather belts wrap around her waist. The dress falls to her knees, and the last two inches are lace. Finally, on her feet, she wears semi loose boots that come to the mid-calf, and have adjustable buckles to make them tighter or looser.

†»Personality | Serafina's personality is similar to that of an average teenager....an average teenage boy, that is. She has a bit of a temper on her head, and her moods sometimes swing greatly based on the people she is around. When at college, she generally sticks to herself. She's mostly a quiet person at school, she keeps herself with a book, a notepad and a pen. She loves to read, and she likes to create ideas. The reason she keeps mostly to herself is because she has been ridiculed for having such abstract ideas, and she doesnt want to put up with that. Also, because of where she's been, she doesnt think many people will look highly upon that, and she prefers to keep it more of a secret. However, when she is working, she is more of a social person. She tries to be more talkative because she wants to give people a good "atmosphere" when she takes their orders and delivers their beer. Aside from two social settings, when she is alone and with her uncle, or just alone, she is rather studious.

She is a bit on the self-conscious side because of her prosthetic limbs. She prefers to wear knee-length dresses with longer sleeves to cover the portion of her limbs that attach to the prosthetics so people cant see them. She does her best to work with them and make it appear completely normal. She cant move her any other than moving it slightly forward or backwards, so she tries to discreetly bend her wrist and fingers when nobody is watching. Also, in the back of her mind, she feels like a horrible burden to her uncle. She knows what people think of her if they see her walking with the aid of her crutch with him. Also, she knows that an upstanding buisinessman like himself wouldnt be expected to be in charge of a girl such as herself.

Of her natural physical features, she is most sensitive about her height in a conversation setting. She gets highly annoyed if somebody calls her short or small, and she avoids admitting the fact she's a short as she is, even if its because of genetics. Otherwise, if she is engaged in a verbal argument, she will hold her own. However, something that hurts her the most and reminds her of why she feels the way she does about being with her uncle is somebody calling her crippled. She dislikes to admit that she is, but she knows its true.

• Azriel and Freya had fraternal twins on February 12th. A daughter they named Serafina & a son they named Aloysius. The Abhays lived a considerably average life in rural Germany until their house was caught in a crossfire-bombing from zeppelins when. They were forced to move from the countryside into Berlin when the children were seven years old.
  
  
• Having recently gotten a well-paying but incredibly stressful job, Azriel took up a habit of drinking after the weekends he worked. Over a month or so it became every weekend, Wednesday, and Thursday. Another month and it was Every other night. Before long he was drinking every night, and coming home worse and worse. His job was with a certain group of people who were members of the Thule Society. Though the primary base of operations were in Munich. He acted as mechanics director architect for anything they needed built for their purposes. The period he worked with them was during a large renovation phase.
  
  
• One night, a year and a half after moving to Berlin, Azriel came home incredibly drunk and in a rage about work. In her efforts to try and calm him, Freya prepared a dinner. However, she hadnt prepared something Azriel wanted. It was a time of war and unease, and firearms were becoming more common in certain households. Azriel happened to have carried his on his person that day. Serafina and Aloysius, eight and a half, came down to dinner after their mother called, but began running when they heard the sound of a gunshot. The sight that met their eyes was their mother on the floor, blood coming from her chest. She didnt move, and trying to make sense of what happened, Aloysius and Serafina looked to Azriel in time to see him put the gun to his head and pull the trigger.
  
  
• After a six months of transferring from orphanage to orphanage, Serafina and Aloysius were taken to an orphanage in Munich. There they were adopted by a man named John. He gave them the fanciful idea of working with him at his job at the house of his "boss". They liked the idea. From a younger age, they'd been willing to learn and keep forming new ideas about what they'd learned. The possibility of working in a place where many intelligent individuals were working towards a common goal was exciting, but the idea of being around books and being able to read was enthralling. They were fairly lucky enough to receive as much of an education as possible. One thing they knew how to do well was read, and they loved it. They also loved learning.
  
  
• Serafina, known as Sera at this point, and Aloysius quickly accepted the offer. Though they wouldnt be paid, they would have a place to stay and meals to eat. They would also be able to spend time with their adoptive father. Three and a half years passed, and the twins were growing mentally in the same way. They read the same books, studied the same things and knew all about each other. They loved the ideas of the Thule Society, particularly Sera. She loved the idea of arcane sciences becoming prominent. She admired how it had evolved through time, and she particularly liked the idea of Alchemy. Though it wouldnt work, she couldnt help but like the idea of it. Also, she liked learning about space, stars, planets and the universe around them. She wanted to know more, and discover more. Also, she couldnt help become fascinated with the idea of possible parallel worlds, where things in that world were different from the one she lived in.
  
  
• One day, three years later, while assisting some repairs on the ceiling of one of the main halls, Sera (twelve years old) was on the raised platform when it happened. One of the support beams snapped, and it began falling. Sera had accidentally tangled herself in one of the chains holding some other materials. When she fell, the chain wrapped around her arm and essentially twisted it off at the shoulder. The chain links cut into her skin because of the pressure, soon through muscle and then it broke through bone.
  
  
• She spent a good number of months in the hospital, recovering from the incident and learning how to use a prosthetic arm. It was hard at first, but she soon became more adept at it. Her time in the hospital made her name and existence more prominent and well known. Soon, two people came by to the hospital. Bĕla and Yash Abhay. Her father's brother and his wife. Her aunt and uncle. She left the hospital with them, but was unable to convince her brother to leave the Thule Society with her. She eventually realized that the goals of the Thule Society were a bit dangerous, and rather Anarchist. Tt became well-known the that the Thule Society would not look kindly upon her departure since she knew so much about them, but she didnt let it bother her. She figured it was best to leave it as it was and continue with her life, leaving that part of her past behind her.
  
  
• Her aunt and uncle took her to England with them. When they properly adopted her from the Thule Society, they were preparing to move there, anyway, for Yash's career. He was a successful businessman, and was able to pay for Sera to attend a private school in England, where she learned to speak English and further her studies. Within the three years, her aunt called Aurora, because her eyes were so blue, and it was a name she had always thought was beautiful. To Bĕla, Serafina was like the daughter she never had. They spent time together and developed a close bond, which was cut short a month after Yash, Bĕla and Serafina moved back to Munich when Sera was little more than fifteen.
  
  
• While driving home from a play one evening, Bĕla and Sera were having a laughable time, talking about what they had just seen, when suddenly, a loud sound...a gunshot, was heard, splitting the calm air on the back road they were traveling on. Bĕla instantly was still, leaning on the wheel of the car. Due to the deceased driver, the car veered sideways and was hit by an oncoming car. The wet road proved unhelpful, in this instance. Bĕla's body lay a good number of feet off, and the car was crushing both of Sera's legs at the mid-thigh. The damage restricted to her legs was severe, and both of her legs had been severed by the car.. The worse fact of the whole incident was that the bullet that killed Bĕla was from a huntsman's rifle that had gone astray after missing its target.
  
  
• Being a well-off businessman, Yash was able to pay for the rehabilitation, hospital care, medical treatment, and prosthetic legs relatively easily. He visited Sera in the hospital as much as possible, trying to keep a good relationship with her as his work would allow. Months passed, and Sera was finally able to walk again, thanks to the prosthetic legs she was fitted with....legs that were not unlike what veterans of war used.
  
  
• By the age of fifteen years and nine months, Serafina was a very intelligent young girl. Her uncle realized the potential within her and suggested she get a job. The place she was able to find work was at the Munich beer hall, almost every night. Though Sera had a strong dislike for alcoholic beverages and what they could do to people, she worked to help "pay her share" of the life her uncle was allowing her to live. She wanted an education, to become one of the most well-educated young females in Munich at the time. She asked her uncle about the possibility of her getting a college education. After some persuasion, he agreed. The tuition would be more than he would have elected at first, but he knew it was what his wife would have wanted.
  
  
• After she turned sixteen, her uncle helped her get enrolled in the local college. Knowing that she would soon have both college and work under her belt, Sera wanted another name that others could easily call her until they got to know her better. She settled on "Kane". Now, her uncle is almost constantly traveling because of his business, and Kane, living under her mother's surname, to disassociate herself with her father as much as possible, is living as best she can before she begins college. She is eagerly anticipating it, however, she often finds living mostly alone a bit lonely, and wishes to one day convince her brother to leave the Thule Society. Until then, she plans on learning more about mythology, science, and particularly astronomy and physics...astrophysics.
